Close Projects

Close Projects

Once a project has completed the project close-out phase and lessons learned, it is best practice to mark the project as closed in Carve. When a project is marked as closed, the project data is still shown in Analytics, but the project is not visible on the default Carve project dashboard view unless you select Show "Closed" projects. This decreases the amount of projects on the default Carve Project Dashboard, which results in simpler projects searching and faster page performance.

Company Admin and Business Admin users are able to mark projects as closed, as well as view both open and close projects. Facilitator and Stakeholder users do not have the ability to mark projects as closed and can only view open projects.

This article reviews how to:
  1. Filter to view open and closed projects
  2. Close a project
  3. Re-open a closed project

Filter to View Open and Closed Projects

For Company Admin and Business Admin users, the Carve Project dashboard can be filtered to show all projects, open projects, and closed projects. Use the Show dropdown menu at the top of the page to filter the dashboard view.

Please note that the Show dropdown menu is not visible for Facilitator and Stakeholder users. Facilitator and Stakeholder users can only see open projects.

Close a Project

Projects can be closed by Company Admin and Business Admin users. To close a project:
  1. Click the dropdown arrow beside the project to be closed.
  2. Select Close Project

Once the project is closed, it will no longer be shown on the default Carve dashboard view. Facilitator and Stakeholder users will be unable to see the closed project. Company Admin and Business Admin users can view the close projects by filtering the dashboard view.

For Professional/Enterprise edition companies, the project data from closed projects will remain in project analytics.

Re-open a Closed Project

Closed projects can be re-opened by Company Admin and Business Admin users. To re-open a closed project:
  1. Filter the dashboard to view closed projects.
  2. Click the dropdown arrow beside the closed project to be re-opened.
  3. Select Open Project.
